OUR MISSION
Under the UCLA Division of Undergraduate Education and in partnership with UCLA Student Affairs, the UCLA Latinx Success Center, or LSC, will serve as both a central hub for academic resources and an incubator for best practices in Latinx, first-generation and low-income student success.
The launch of the LSC is a direct result of a recommendation from the report created by UCLA’s Hispanic-Serving Institution Task Force in 2022. As part of the university’s efforts to become a Hispanic-Serving Institution, or HSI, this new hub on campus is focused on student achievement and excellence.
The LSC will strengthen existing programs and initiatives while fostering collaboration to broaden their impact across campus. It will build UCLA’s institutional capacity to:
- Act as a central hub that connects students to campuswide academic resources and support services, in addition to fostering a sense of belonging among the Latinx campus community.
- Strengthen career, graduate and professional pathways for Latinx, low-income and first-generation students.
- Serve as a vehicle to attain and implement future HSI grant-sponsored initiatives to fund innovative academic programs leading to equitable retention and graduation rates and career and graduate pathways.
- Reach equity in retention and graduation rates of Latinx students in accordance with UC 2030 goals by increasing UCLA’s Latinx freshman four-year graduation rate from 72% to 86% and Latinx transfer two-year graduation rate from 68% to 75%.
- Feature a digital component of resources, programs, staff and faculty interested in and affiliated with the LSC.
