DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, May 13th from 7pm-9pm in the Latinx Succ
 ess Center to be in community and learn about the journey of Dr. Osvaldo G
 utierrez. This event will focus on honoring our stories\, building an acad
 emic self-concept\, and a sense of belonging. Participants will have an op
 portunity to ask questions and network. \n\n\nDr. Osvaldo Gutierrez was b
 orn in Mexico and raised in Sacramento\, California. He earned his B.S./M.
 S. from UCLA and Ph.D. from UC Davis\, followed by postdoctoral work at th
 e University of Pennsylvania and faculty appointments at the University of
  Maryland and Texas A&amp\;M University. In 2025\, he joined UCLA as Profe
 ssor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and inaugural Chicano Studies Research 
 Center HSI STEM Senior Faculty Director. He leads and sustains national 
 initiatives that broaden participation in STEM\, serving as the President
  of the Alliance for Diversity in Science and Engineering\, organizing the
  Young Researchers Conference and Breaking Barriers Through Chemistry to s
